Pardon my absence, life has been absolutely crazy the last few days. We just packed the last box of our apartment, and I am putting the last few pieces into my suitcase for Italy. T-minus 1 days. WHHHHAAATTT.
The last thing I have on my “to do” list is create an itinerary. Which is not needed, but necessary for this OCD traveler. While gathering our travel vouchers for the itinerary, I started to drool over the menu get really excited for our cooking class excursion.
We had the best experience in Thailand, and still to this day, make recipes from the class. I really do think that booking a cook class while traveling is a great investment.
Why I LOVE Cooking Classes while Traveling:
1. It’s a souvenir you “can bring home.” After you return home from your travels, you can remake the recipes as many times as you want. It will bring you right back to where you were.
2. Authenticity. It usually doesn’t get more authentic than making it in a chef’s home. One tip: I usually stay away from the typical “Cooking Schools” and go with private chefs or smaller class sizes.
3. It’s an excursion and a meal in one. I mean, eating while learning, doesn’t get much better.
4. Bonding Experience. It’s a great time to relax, sip on some beverages, and get to know the other people in the room.
5. Outside of your comfort zone. At home, I never cook. So cooking classes allow me to do something I would normally never do. (I’m also a great person to take a cooking class with because I’ll make you look like a master chef)
Bonus: You could also have a kick ass coo) instructor. Like MB below. MB = Most Beautiful (or so she told us). Love her.
