We found ourselves with a long weekend a few weeks back, and my husband and I figured it was a great time to take advantage of the slow season. Travel Tip: January & February are dead months for Chicago hotels. Meaning you can find amazing deals and will most likely get the upgrade when checking in. Double perk!
Since it was January, and I like being as cliche as possible, I wanted to book a room with a fireplace. After a little research, it was decided: The Waldorf Astoria.
Luxury hotels are countless in Chicago, so it comes down to the smallest details when standing apart from one another. I was most surprised by the check in process. Informative, smooth and quick. The concierge and hotel staff were by far some of the most helpful (and we live in Chicago!) I’ve experienced. We also upgraded (see above, I’m telling you) and I’m ashamed to admit that the hotel room was larger than our apartment. When I can I move in?
Each time I step foot in the Waldorf, whether for a drink with friends or visiting the spa, I become more and more obsessed. I recently visited the spa in the fall while my husband was in Hong Kong and was awed by the amenities (all of which are free as a hotel guest).
The Waldorf houses a great bar, Bernard’s, on their second floor. It’s one of my favorites in Chicago with its quiet, dark, and intimate atmosphere. But the main reason: They know how to make classic cocktails. Really really well.
Another favorite amenity: A house Mercedes car for travel in the downtown area is complimentary for all guests. They even made sure to give us a ride back to our apartment after our stay!
Cannot wait for our next adventure at the Waldorf Astoria Chicago.
